Agua Caliente Indian Reservation - Agua Caliente Indian Reservation - 52,000 acres deeded to the Caliente people in 1876 - are located in Palm Springs and fan across the desert and mountains outside of the city. Centuries ago, the Agua Caliente Cahuilla Indians thrived in the Palm Springs area with a reputation for independence, integrity, and peace. Remains of Cahuilla society - rock art, house pits and foundations, irrigation ditches, dams, reservoirs, trails, and food preparation areas - still exist in the canyons.
